le ballet

going to cinderella-3

going to cinderella-2

This week we will celebrate 6 lovely years together. And because my husband is so awesome, he took me to see the Russian National Ballet perform Cinderella. The ballet itself was less than stellar, honestly, but it was so fun go out it really didn't matter. My favorite part of the night was eavesdropping during intermezzo. We parked ourselves next to a group of Russians, looked intently at our program, and Ben listened and translated what they were saying. Ben was Bond, and I was his arm candy. But secretly packing heat. I just googled "packing heat" to make sure that means what I think it does. It does.

woo-woo! the dress turned out lovely! I forgot how awesome a pink it was. I'm interested to know what the Russians were talking about....

Laura, The russians had locked their keys in the car and were yelling at each other for being so dumb. haha

Melissa, I added sleeves because it was a scandalous prom dress back in the days of the rebellion. It used to be floor length and have 2 inch straps.

The dress does look great! I'm impressed with your skills. It's always fun to get out especially when you get to dress up! Happy anniversary!

oooh even awesomer (real word?)! can you teach me how to make sleeves? i have a dream of being that woman in the ward that the young women bring their prom dresses to to modify, but i have made no strides in that direction. i tried to alter one of my dresses recently and gave up before i even began. hard.

I HAVE THAT EXACT SAME DREAM!! Wild. And no, I can't really teach you. I do it project runway style... pin it on, cut it about where it should go, and sew, baby, sew. My seamstress mom would be appalled. :) It would have been much easier to figure out if I had a dressmaker's form, so get one of those before you start doing it professionally. Oh, and I think the key to making it not look like it usually does (which is to say, really really tacky), is use the exact same fabric. Which might be hard if you aren't going to cut off the bottom. If I ever figure it out better I'll let you know. :)
