never give up

My kids are so stubborn about trying new foods. It makes me crazy! Ugh, last week I actually cried because I take so much time to make healthy dinners for my family and then no one but me eats them. It's dumb to cry over it, but you know sometimes I get stressed out for no good reason.

But there is hope.

Benson somehow got brave enough to try the celery in his chicken noodle soup last night, and exclaimed, "This is my FAVORITE!" And then he ate all the celery in his bowl and asked for some more.

I'm so happy he's found a vegetable companion for the carrots he likes.

Now if we could only get Banks to eat something once in a while that wasn't Ramen Noodles...

We sometimes go through phases where all we eat is enchiladas and ravioli, because those are two things that Skyler will consistently eat and gush about how wonderful it tastes. I hate the idea of making dinner when I know chances are pretty good that Skyler will refuse to eat it and tell me how bad it is!

yes- i have been frustrated many a time over ambrose's diet but i just have to keep trying my best. i look forward to the day when we can eat dinner as a family and by that i mean: everyone eats the same thing instead of me and thomas eating dinner and ambrose eating applesauce and carrot sticks or something...

Sometimes i feel like I am the only one that eats at my house. I'm still trying to get Ammon to eat what I cook.
We've had a few conversations about why I shouldn't take it so personally that he or the kids don't like it....but I still do.
It's like you said, all the effort in thinking about, shopping for, and preparing the food is wasted.
I decided I needed Ammon to gush about how grateful he is for me, my efforts, and all my work in preparing meals for our family, expecially when it isn't popular.
He's still working on that.

Thank goodness Benson loves Celery. Ammon won't touch the stuff. :)

That makes me sad that you were crying. I get that way too, so I know how it feels. But, just treasure those moments when everyone loves the meal you so selflessly prepared. Remember that, and keep on working. You're a good wife and mother. Hugs.

Keep on truckin Carrie! One day they'll thank you for the healthy meals! Maybe Ben could be a good example in this arena! Ben! Come on bro!

Ben is requiring me to write that he is doing much better than you could possibly imagine. :)

He eats broccoli on a regular basis, and requests tomato for his hamburger. Yaaaaay for Ben!
