le blog is getting to be all about food

croissant

Inspired by my sister, I decided to embark on a croissant making journey on Thursday.

It took so very long. All my hesitations were proven right. All that laminating (that's the official term)! and the hoping for the proper temperature! and the rolling! and the sticking! Oy vey!

But the end product was pretty extraordinary. And maybe this experience will be like child birth and in a few years I'll think, "Pshaw! It wasn't that bad!"

I used this recipe, if anyone else dares to dance with the devil.

I'm glad you now share the knowledge that croissants from scratch are oh-so-good but oh-so-time-consuming. I feel like we should start a support group for recovering french pastry chefs. I still get a little wobbly in the knees thinking about it. But then...ah, the buttery goodness. I wish you were closer because then we could make them together.

They look very yummy and flakey and layer-y. Nice work!

That looks so good! But I don't know if I am brave enough to attempt it, I think I will just run to the store ;)

They do look yummy, but I don't think I dare dance with the devil. I like the canned ones too much to try to mess with what ain't broken...know what I mean.

Aww, Carrie. It's like you've given me a personal challenge and now I must try these. In fact I am really eager to start them right now. But alas they must wait until I finish the million other things I have to do. They look mighty delicious.
