I have typed and retyped this entry 4 times now, and nothing sounds right. I guess I can't really put into words how proud of Ben I am. He has accomplished so much already, and now is just starting down the really difficult part of the path but is so excited to learn e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g there is to know about bodies. It's seriously crazy how much he is has to memorize, even in the next 10 weeks. Crazy. I'm sure at some point it will get really tedious, but for now we hop into bed early every night and watch dissection videos and powerpoint slides, just to get a head start (and a stronger stomach) on the coming weeks in the cadaver lab. We are already planning a date night around a tour of the cadaver lab so I can really understand what he's doing every day. ha. I'm sure this makes me sound like I'm nuts, but I'm excited to learn along with him (but not have to actually have the stress of med school). Anyway, tomorrow is the beginning of the next four years for us and although I'm secretly terrified that I'll be too frequently lonely, I'm excited and proud and cheering my Ben on. GOOOOOOO DR. TRACY!!

This is going to sound so stupid, but Ben looks older! Maybe it's the white jacket :) How exciting to finally be starting to beginning of this journey! You're a brave woman Carrie! I don't know if I could stomach the cadaver lab :)

i really like how this is a "we" thing for you, not a "him" thing. i'm pretty impressed with you both!

and seriously, watching dissection videos and cadaver labs = you are tough. we "watched" a c-section in lamaze class last week, and neither nate nor i looked at the tv the whole time (well, i did for about a second and instantly regretted it). atta tracys.

Yay! this is so exciting for you five. I had an art class in that same cadaver lab--I was 6 months pregnant with Hannah and thought I wouldn't survive it. We learned from the cadavers, much like Leonardo da'Vinci. Crazy.

This is HUGE! It really is a life changing thing, to begin this process. You will be doing so many wonderful things and have such an adventure that no one will be able to totally understand (well, the other students will get it). I'm proud of you, too, Carrie for all the support and strength you give Ben. I'm so proud of you...all!

Does anyone ever come back to the comments? Well, if you do I have things to say:

Sara, Did you know they actually built a brand new medical school and cadaver lab? They did! It's amazing and really high tech, including exhaust fans built into the tables that pull the stench through the table and out of the room. Ben says it's not bad smelling at all.

Becca, I forgot to mention my favorite part of the ceremony being the part where they officially introduced the class of 2014 at the end and the audience stood and clapped so hard and cheered and cried because we've all been there through this horrible undergrad/application process. The pride in the room was seriously out of control and so so sweet.

Melissa, I know! His pants are part of suit from Express Men's and it's beeeeeautiful. :) Thanks for noticing. And my only regret through this is that I can't go in and experience the dissection with him. Medicine is totally and completely fascinating to me, and if weren't so much dang work I'd apply and go to med school myself.

Oh and Caity, He IS older. :) The man is almost 3-0! Yikes!
