roses are red. and pink.

Did you see these beautiful roses on Kevin Sharkey's blog? I can't wait for the day I can collect exotic roses and plant them all around my house! And then they will probably die! I have a black thumb but perhaps by then I'll be a better gardener. A girl can dream, and even still it won't stop me from planting those roses.

Do you find it sad that as soon as the holidays are over the whole of blogland pines for spring, even though spring is months away? We should find ways to make Jan/Feb/Mar more celebrated.

Valentine's Day just gets a bad rap - but I don't think it should be that way! It's a great way to kill time between Christmas and spring.

when you live on my block you'll understand why we try to ignore jan/feb/march here. ew.

Well, we are going to celebrate the Chinese New Year (Feb 3), Valentine's Day (without too much sugar), Mardi Gras (March 8), and St. Patrick's Day - complete with decorations, good food and playtimes. I figure with Joel gone we need some serious ways to break up the weeks ahead. We have a 20ft dragon up and a serious Chinese guy taking up most of a wall. We are going to make some lanterns soon. Goin' to be fun, ha!...care to join us?

So I don't normally like red roses, but THAT red rose. Be still my heart. It looks like ranunculus kind of, doesn't it? Yes, will you do this in my garden on our block, too?

Really? You're coming up for the Chinese New Year? :) That would be cool.

Well, I'm pining for spring big time! I'm sick of winter!

That red rose looks so cool it looks like a paper rose.

I know! The way the petals fold together is so sculptural. Amazing. And the pink ones look like they have asparagus growing out of the middle.

The red ones are called "Piano" in case anyone is wondering, and the pinks don't have a name apparently.

Holy awesomeness! That is the coolest flower I have ever seen. WHere can you get those things? I will take a house full! And I am with you. I need spring. Please let me outside in some semi-warmness!
